Vol. 5 No. 1 (2026): Pittsburgh Undergraduate Review
The Editorial Board is pleased to announce the publication of the Spring 2026 edition of the Pittsburgh Undergraduate Review, Vol. V, No. 1.
The year 2026 marks the 45th anniversary of the Review, with our first edition published in March of 1981. And, like the season of spring, it has brought new growth to the journal. We began publishing a print edition for the first time since the journal’s revival in 2021 alongside the digital repository found at pur.pitt.edu. We held our first of many launch parties this past autumn and are in talks to establish journal awards for outstanding student work. Our authors and board members have presented at undergraduate research fairs on campus and beyond.
In this edition, you will find the familiar diversity of scholarly work that readers have come to expect from the Review. Inventive short stories, immunological cancer research, and fishery economics are only a few of the subject areas covered by our authors. In keeping with our interdisciplinary emphasis, these articles blur the lines between fields like philosophy and clinical psychology or legal studies and artificial intelligence, among others.
Thank you to the authors who have spent countless hours on their research and creative pursuits and written such outstanding pieces. I would also like to thank the Editorial Board as well as our legion of peer editors – without their hard work behind the scenes, this journal would not exist. We are also deeply grateful to the David C. Frederick Honors College for sponsoring this journal and the University of Pittsburgh Library Systems for their logistical assistance. I would like to especially acknowledge the support of Dr. Joshua Cannon, Abby Chen, and Marin Dremock.
To our readers and fellow undergraduate researchers: may you always keep thinking and searching for new knowledge.
We welcome any comments, questions, or suggestions via email at pur@pitt.edu.
Sincerely,
Katelyn Chen, Editor-in-Chief, A&S ‘27
